Galaxy Hotel

After a long day of travel, we arrived to wait for our room and found the lobby like a playground, with kids running and screaming everywhere. Parents had taken up the lounge chairs across the place, so there was nowhere for us to sit. It was too cold to walk elsewhere, so we had to pay to sit on wooden chairs in the restaurant, which had kids in it too. Getting a migraine on the first day was not a good start. I didn’t even bother with the pool. There was some kind of chess tournament going on. If we’d known, we wouldn’t have booked here. We’d booked for three people, but the room was only set up for two. Avoid!

We liked the room, which was clean and big enough, and the location was convenient, near a shopping center with good public transport. Breakfast had a wide selection and we really enjoyed it. The wellness area was a big plus, with two saunas, a pool and a jacuzzi. It was easy to get in despite the limited capacity. The gym was very basic and could use an upgrade. We’d have preferred a walk-in shower to the bathtub, and the room was cold at night.

We’d traveled all day for what was supposed to be a birthday surprise for my wife, only to find there was no electricity in the room. We had a table reservation, so we changed in the dark and couldn’t shower. I reported it to reception and was told it would be fixed by the time we returned from dinner, with no apology for the inconvenience. We got back just after 10 pm and were told everything was working and there was no fault. The power failed again almost as soon as we reached the room. After several calls to reception, we were sitting on the bed while a handyman pulled apart the ceiling to look for the problem. After 20 minutes, he said it was fixed, left, and the electricity went out again. Reception said I could change rooms if I was dissatisfied. At 11 pm we packed in the dark and moved. The new room was much smaller, and at 1:30 am I had to call again because the room next door had a party with loud music and singing. In the morning I was told there was nothing they could do because no manager was in over the weekend. I emailed the manager and never got a reply. I’m really disappointed. This wasn’t a cheap hotel, yet the room quality and service we received were terrible.

The location is very good, but the experience didn’t come close to justifying the price. I paid €170 for one night and felt I got almost nothing for it. I arrived at 8 p.m. and asked reception for a simple breakfast package because I had an early flight, but they refused. My room was on the sixth floor, right beside the ice machine. People ran and shouted in the hallway all night, so I hardly slept. Very poor value for money.
