Hostel Kaktus Krakow

Our room was fairly nice and clean, and had a fan, though the TV didn't work. My mother and sister paid about the same for a room that looked like a prison cell, with bars on the window. It was extremely hot in the rooms, with no air conditioning, so I'd avoid coming in summer. The kitchen was a mess, with sticky tables and dirt inside, and just one fridge for the whole hostel. The promised free coffee wasn't there. A young man at the desk was very nice when he checked us in, but then disappeared until the next day, leaving nobody at reception. The free Wi-Fi was such a joke, the signal was so weak you may as well use your data. Bathrooms were shared by everyone, not separated for women and men, though they were fairly clean. Other guests, possibly Ukrainian, were a nightmare: smoking and drinking until 2 or 3 in the morning, making lots of noise, and walking around shirtless. I didn't feel safe walking around or leaving the window open. The location was good, with an easy walk to the centre and inexpensive taxis back. Still, I definitely wouldn't return.

The room and location were good, and I had no complaints about the place itself. But the staff member was far too rude. I paid for two beds even though I was staying alone. He showed me the room, took the blankets and pillow off the spare bed, then left without explaining the entrance PIN or anything else. Ridiculous.

The location is good, and the place is okay, but 100 for a double room seems too expensive to me. The walls or door are pretty thin, so you can hear people outside, even when they're in the toilet.

A nice, inexpensive place to sleep not too far from the city centre. The staff were friendly and helpful, doing what they could to make our stay in Krakow really enjoyable.
