Traveler's Best- Old Town Guesthouse

The apartments were extremely noisy during the day because the city had started major rail and road renovation right beside the building. There was also a violent attack under our windows at 2 AM. We heard screams, and the asphalt below was covered in blood the next day. There's nothing good about this place, not even the location. Avoid these apartments at all costs. Most of the 5-star reviews are probably fake. We booked 3 apartments, and all were badly worn, with scratched, water-damaged furniture that didn't match the Booking.com photos. They show larger apartments, but the units we stayed in were much smaller. It seems they made 6-7 tiny units out of 2 apartments. The walls were paper-thin, so we could hear neighbors' TVs, hair dryers, and conversations, and smell their cigarettes. The beds were small, with extremely uncomfortable cheap mattresses and paper-thin pillows filled with plastic. Everyone slept horribly and had backaches. Some apartments reeked of sewage. On arrival, the whole apartment smelled like rotten eggs and vomit, coming from the toilet, shower, and sink drains. It was disgusting and impossible to stay there. Management took at least 24 hours to respond, then said, “well, it is an old building, it is normal.” That was unacceptable for over $100 per night. All our interactions with management were extremely unpleasant and rude, and they never followed up about the sewer smell. The building at Podowale 3/3 is old, falling apart, and covered in graffiti, despite Booking.com's address being different. The apartments are on the second floor, up four steep, flimsy wooden flights of stairs. There's no elevator or help, so carrying bags or having mobility limitations would make it torture or even impossible. The mattresses and pillows were awful, and the bed size was small. Linen and towels were old, washed-out, scratchy, and falling apart, with threads sticking out. Windows were broken, glassware chipped, and kitchenware destroyed. Everything we touched was broken, chipped, or smelled. Management clearly doesn't care about guests' experience. They forced us to provide sensitive personal details in a WhatsApp chat, including full name, passport details, date of birth, and nationality. Otherwise, they wouldn't give us the door code and we'd have had to sleep on the street. Their internal miscommunication also led them to push us out despite our confirmation. We were ready to call the police about financial fraud. They eventually realized their mistake, but didn't even apologize for ruining the experience.

The room was clean, with a good bathroom, but it felt too small for two people and more suited to one. The accommodation is very, very close to the old town, and check-in and check-out were simple.

Everything was well prepared, and I'd highly recommend a visit to this apartment :)
