Aparts Loft Bed&Breakfast

Clean apartment, and a nice one.

We got to the agreed address on Żeligowskiego Street with 14 people, expecting the three rooms we had booked two months earlier. The booking had been confirmed, and I'd called a month before to check that everything was in order. The woman on the phone had said it was, but when we arrived she sounded completely surprised. She told us there was no reservation and the rooms had already been taken. We were at a bachelor party and had to spend time scrambling to find somewhere else. Breakfast never showed up either, so I can't comment on it. The one thing the front desk managed to arrange was getting our 14 bags and other belongings transported from our accommodation to the place we had to find ourselves. I wouldn't recommend staying here, the organization was awful.

The room needs work. Wallpaper was peeling, the towels and kettle were dirty, and there was dust and cobwebs on the lamps above the kitchen counter. The staff were friendly and apologized, saying they'd try to provide better conditions next time. That got a laugh from our room. After a stay like this, who'd come back? I left more disgusted than I can remember feeling after a stay, and I really don't recommend it. Breakfast was awful too, and nowhere near worth 25 złoty. The orange juice was sour, the espresso tasted like cafeteria coffee, and the doughnuts had already been sitting out all day for Fat Thursday and weren't fit to eat by the night before. Nothing was warm, so we asked for scrambled eggs made with butter. The woman said she could make them, but all she had was a palm tree. Maybe the place was nicer a few months ago, but it wasn't during my stay.

We spent nearly the whole weekend without hot water, so our group of nine, including two small children and a pregnant woman, had to heat it in a pot. We were staying at the apartment at 10 Łąkowa Street. The problem started late Friday, and we reported it three times on Saturday. Each time we were told someone would come, apparently because the gas heater was broken, but nobody came. The owner later said on the phone that someone had mixed up the apartments and gone elsewhere. On Sunday we found the heater manual online and fixed it ourselves. The Wi-Fi password we were given was useless because there was no network available in this apartment, so there was no free Wi-Fi. Getting in was a problem too: one of our two key sets had a gate key that didn't work, and the intercom code was no good. The woman said they were changing the keys, that she hadn't changed this one, and that she couldn't get in herself either. The neighborhood felt scary, and I didn't feel safe leaving the courtyard gate alone. Then a neighbor snapped at us for parking two cars when there was only one space, even though we'd agreed on two parking spaces. It was the worst place we've stayed. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a 21st-century survival experience in Łódź.
