Hotel Piast

I booked a double bed but got two singles pushed together. The shower head was broken, and the heating didn’t work. I won’t stay here again.

For the price, the location is fantastic and there’s free parking. My room was clean, spacious, and well equipped. It was cold in there, though, even with both heaters running really hot. I was there in January, so maybe that was meant to fit the Malbork castle experience 😉 The picture above the bed did help set the mood.

The reception was helpful, and my room was clean and spacious. The location is great, about an 8-minute walk from the railway station and right opposite the castle. Kaufland and Biedronka, a żabka, a circle-K, and a McDonalds are nearby too. Still, I can’t help feeling the 3-star rating is fair. It’s Saturday night, already Sunday at 00:47, and people outside are still partying loudly. There’s no air conditioning, so I couldn’t just close the windows. I tried shutting them anyway, but the noise was still easy to hear and kept me awake. Maybe weekdays would have earned this hotel 5 stars from me. I’m hoping to get up early for the city museum at 08:00, though that doesn’t look very promising now.

The hotel sits nicely between Malbork castle and the centre, and the prices are pretty low for the area, so it feels like good value. Rooms are clean and have the basics, including coffee making, tv, and shower gel. I’d pick a front room for the views, but being at the back won’t spoil your trip. Breakfast costs extra, about £6, and I didn’t try it because there are lots of cafes around. The receptionists are friendly and often speak English. I even ran into them across the road in McDonald's, and they were just as helpful there. I’d definitely recommend staying here.
