PREMIUM - Bed & Breakfast

The breakfast was fantastic, though it costs extra, and our room had tea and coffee making facilities but no milk. A mini fridge would have been handy for keeping some. The room was spacious enough for two, with a comfortable bed, a good shower, and a hairdryer. It's a great B&B, very close to Malbork Castle.

My reservation was cancelled without warning, even though I'd booked through Booking.com. I got an unexpected cancellation email, then Booking.com told me the hotel had cancelled it. A hotel employee first said it was a family business and denied cancelling, while admitting they'd overbooked. Later I found out the employee had lied and that the hotel had cancelled my booking without notice. The customer service was poor.

Breakfast was a real highlight. It was included in the reasonable price, with loads of food beautifully served on a tiered tray, eggs made to order, and plenty of buffet choices. You definitely won't leave hungry. We could also leave our heavy backpacks at reception for a few hours after checkout while we visited the castle before our afternoon train. This privately owned hotel is one of the best funky places we've stayed in Europe. It's in an older two-story building, tastefully renovated inside in a sort of Victorian style, just a stone's throw from the castle. Don't expect marble, gold trim, or A/C. Our room was clean and comfortable, a corner room with a partial castle view, and the street was quiet. The double pillows could be bigger, and the thin walls meant we could hear the neighbors' TV, but those were minor inconveniences. A great place to rest for a night or two!

The rooms are small, but cozy and pleasant. They're super clean, and the breakfast is amazing. The hotel is right in the city center, about three to five minutes from Malbork's main entrance. You can park behind the hotel or use the large paid lot out front. There's also a family room with an extra bed for a child.
