Apartament Manhattan w Olsztynie

I booked quickly because I needed somewhere near the train station for just one night, and assumed a site like booking.com wouldn't list a place like this. I didn't look at the reviews. I couldn't get in touch with the owner at all, even to ask when and how to collect the keys. After reading the comments, I felt I'd been misled. The photos on Booking showed a standard I'm not used to, so I tried to arrange a free cancellation or at least a refund of half the amount, so the owner wouldn't lose everything. I got ignored. Ms. Ola on the hotline told me to read the comments next time. When I asked why Booking doesn't check those comments or take responsibility for these properties, I got no answer. She said they only handle brokerage and verification of property owners, but when I asked how listings are verified, she didn't know and couldn't give me anyone else's contact details. I called the day before using both numbers, the one on the booking website and the one from the hotline. The woman who answered said she wasn't the owner (???), said she was busy, and hung up. She never answered my later calls. Either booking.com had given me the wrong number, or the owner was acting like she had nothing to do with the property. Great! :) My reservation was effectively lost because the owner didn't reply until the day I was meant to check in. Calling the hotline didn't help, though I eventually found another place to stay. Just out of curiosity, I sent one last message that morning and only then got a response. I don't usually expect the standard shown in the review photos on Booking, so I had wanted to sort out a cancellation or partial refund. When I asked the hotline why Booking lists places like this without addressing the comments, Ms. Ola couldn't explain how the properties are checked. So you could show up somewhere and get hit, as long as booking has the owner's details, makes money, and doesn't care about anything else 🤣
