Villa Pallas

We were kept awake until 3am on our last night by the wedding party shouting, screaming, and swearing. The room was very hot, but even with the windows shut the noise continued. Earlier that evening, we went to reception to settle the bill before our early departure. The amount was twice what we expected because of a mix-up caused by unclear or incorrect information given over the phone. The receptionist treated us as if we were trying to avoid paying, was very rude, and wouldn’t answer my questions in English directly, instead replying to my wife in Polish. We were willing to pay more for the room; we just wanted to explain what had happened. We were eventually offered a lower rate, but only after repeatedly going over the issue and dealing with haughtiness, arrogance, and disdain. It ruined the second night of our stay. I emailed to complain before posting this, to see how they would respond. They didn’t reply at all.

The staff at the front desk and in the restaurant were so unfriendly that we just walked out, despite the place presenting itself as high class. I was traveling around Poland with Dutch and Norwegian friends, visiting cities and towns from Warsaw to Danzig (Gdańsk) and around the Masuria region. This was by far the most unfriendly treatment we got, even after visiting tiny villages and towns like Morąg, Kretowiny, Łukta and Buczyniec. As someone with Polish background, I was astonished, and ashamed, to be treated this way. They also seemed unable or unwilling to make anything off-menu or free of allergens. I’d recommend the place across the street.

There’s parking for the car and it’s close to the city center. The hotel has a majestic feel and great facilities.

The food was fantastic 😋 and the hotel was great value for money. There’s parking at the back too.
