Hotel Starka

We came all the way from London to Katowice, then drove on to Opole, choosing Starka Hotel because of the great restaurant reviews. We’d hoped to arrive, eat well, and relax. Google said the restaurant was open until 10 PM, so after checking in just after 7, we asked reception about booking a table. We were told the kitchen was closing soon and we should hurry, so we did and asked them to let the kitchen know we were coming. Ten minutes later, the restaurant staff told us, rather rudely, that the kitchen was closed. Instead of an apology, we were told the kitchen staff didn’t want to stay at work, even though we were hotel guests. Luckily, a nearby Italian place called La Finestra was happy to serve us after its closing time. It’s a shame Sarka hotel wasn’t as great as we’d expected. I’d say it was far from it.

The location is beautiful, the rooms are clean, and the people are polite!

The hotel itself is modest, with small, old-fashioned rooms, an uncomfortable bed, and a tiny wardrobe. I wouldn’t recommend staying there. The restaurant, though, is really great, so don’t miss it.

We only stayed one night, but the hotel helped arrange a birthday celebration for my fiancée. I’d wanted to do something like that for a long time, and I’m not sure whether he or I was happier about the surprise. Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️😁🙏🏻
