For 35 years, Dom Polonii w Pułtusku (Zamek Pułtusk) has been part of our family story. We used to visit regularly, but now we come only for special occasions. It began with weekends away for me and my future wife, active and romantic, with time moving at a polite British amble. Later we married and had sons, and family visits brought horse riding, tennis, canoeing, excellent food and the quiet of nature together. A splendid mix. We visited most often when our friend Grzegorz Russak was director. He had vision and a gift for bringing people together. He created a wooden tavern inspired by the legendary Karczma “Rzym,” brought back historic grain barges that once traveled the Narew, supported Poland's rafting traditions, and became skilled in liqueur-making and old-Polish cooking. Under his direction, the castle was a lively place, with high standards, prestigious events and a generous offer for the Polish diaspora. People's opinions differ, especially when nostalgia shapes what they expect, but the essentials are still there. Guests continue to praise the lovely riverside setting, ways to stay active, the historic atmosphere, the cuisine, which is still very good, and the courteous service. The castle is still a handsome spot on the map. It may have a few laugh lines, but wears them well. A place to revisit, smile at and raise a glass of something old-fashioned and potent. Cheers. 🥂

The castle views and nearby attractions make for a fun visit, and the rooms are decent. The food is traditional and excellent, mostly prepared locally, with wild game included. Ask about the River Side Cafe, tour options, gallery shows and local jewelry you can buy at decent prices.

We've visited this city and its sights many times. It's one of our favorite places in Poland, and everything looks lovely and clean. The castle has a cafe, billiards, a museum and a viewing platform in the tower. There's an outdoor cafe nearby with access to the river, as well as a park for walks. A large parking area is right in front of the castle. We recommend a visit to the city and castle.

We had a great day out. A keen guide took us on a 30 minute motorboat trip down the Narew and through the surrounding reserve. Lunch at a lovely bistro by the river was another highlight, with traditional Polish dishes done really well. We also had a short look around the armoury. The museum is still under construction and doesn't have a proper written guide, but we got an impromptu history lesson about the area. We were lucky that all these attractions were available when we arrived. If you want a full visit, I'd advise calling ahead and booking.

A lovely, charming little place, not very big, with nice surroundings. The food was delicious and everything else was very nice, but the hotel rooms are below standard because they're so old. The furniture is old too and doesn't work very well. I was invited, so I don't know whether the price reflects the room.
