Chata W Rabce - Bajkowa Osada

The electric sauna was one of the best things about the resort. We were a group of five, split between two cabins at Chata w Rabce. My partner and I stayed in the '2-person gypsy car' for 150zł/night, while my in-laws and their son took the 'space dome' for 250zł/night. Our car had a fan, swamp cooler, electric radiator, small fridge and TV with digital service. The queen bed was fairly comfortable, though the sheets slipped off easily while sleeping. It often felt stuffy and poorly ventilated, and the windows had no screens to keep bugs out. The decor suited the place, but the furniture was a gaudy eyesore. In the bathroom there was a sink, small shower and hair dryer. The hot water heater was damaged and gave us only about 5 minutes of consistently hot water, which was a significant problem for my partner and me. The nearby facilities car had a fridge, oven, stove, dishes, electric sauna and outdoor hot tub. The kitchen was missing things we wanted, especially bowls. We skipped the hot tub over sanitary concerns. It isn’t electric, so you have to burn wood or charcoal to heat it. In the courtyard there’s lounge space, children’s play equipment and a pool. The pool wasn’t heated and was too cold for anyone but the youngest during our week there. There are two fire areas, one covered and one open, and wood is free. The covered area also has foosball, badminton gear and a ping-pong table, though all were in poor condition. The 'space dome' had hotplates, a kitchen sink, kitchenware, a real AC unit and a much larger hot water heater, which made showers more bearable. Its bed was smaller, but it also had a pullout sofa bed. The sound behaved strangely in there, which could be good or bad depending on who you ask. Wi-Fi is available throughout the resort. Sometimes it worked great, but at other times it was completely unusable. They use Wireless N routers, a standard established in 2003 and obseleted in 2008, which are likely behind the unreliable connection. This seems like an easy, quick and affordable fix, but the owners can’t be bothered. Kids and adults will remember this resort, though probably for different reasons. Adults should bring their own entertainment or go elsewhere. Rabka isn’t an ideal destination, and most tourist attractions require drives of 30min or more. It seems to me the owners put very little maintenance into the resort and treat it as easy passive income. I also have reason to think some reviews from the past few months may have been paid for or faked. Be wary and set realistic expectations if you book. The owners are friendly, but I wouldn’t have chosen to stay here myself and won’t recommend that anyone return. I’ve attached plenty of photos, including 360° photospheres.
