Hotel Prezydencki

Right downtown, this is a large hotel that seems to double as a conference center. My room was in the old section and felt like a hotel room from the 70s or 80s. There appears to be a renovated part with a new lift, but I wasn’t put there.

I arrived late and couldn’t find the hotel entrance. The reception phone wasn’t working, and the receptionist didn’t know the hotel’s number. Calling it “Presidential” or giving it three stars seems off. To reach the elevator, you have to climb three flights of stairs, which is especially awkward with 20 kg of luggage in each hand. The lifts are old, and one behaves incorrectly, either not moving or going to another floor. There are no sockets by the bed.

It’s a lovely hotel, and it’s small enough that finding your way around isn’t too hard. But some signs would help: you have to guess where reception and the restaurant are, and which floor you’re on. As you can see in my pictures, there aren’t any signs.

For what I paid, the service was far too poor. The room had no heating, the kettle had dirt floating in it, and everything looked extremely old, as if it hadn’t been renovated since 2000. Around 600 PLN a night felt excessive when, for 800 PLN, I could have stayed in a five-star hotel in Warsaw. I’d emailed ahead to reserve a garage parking spot and got confirmation from the hotel. At reception, though, I was told there were no spaces and that they don’t reserve any. They offered a spot in front of the hotel for a fee, so I agreed because I had no choice. After taking my money, they said there were no spaces there either. How can staff sell a service they can’t provide? It felt like the hotel’s policy was just to take the money.
