Breakfast was the clear bright spot for us. It was tasty, freshly made, and served to order. There were a few flies, but otherwise it was a positive experience. The hotel still has charm and potential, and we hope to return next time, though it's hard to ignore how much upkeep it needs. The last refurbishment seems to have been around 2016, and it shows. Compared with our stay three years ago, the overall standard has dropped while prices have risen a lot. Outside, there were algae, weeds, loose stones, several non-working lights in trees and floodlights, and cables everywhere. Inside, uneven floors, doors that don't close properly, and outdated or broken technical features all take away from the experience. The lemon scent from air freshener plugs in every hallway and some rooms was overpowering. It would be terrible for anyone with allergies or sensitivities, and felt more like an attempt to cover something up than create a pleasant atmosphere. In our room, the bathroom floor and towel heater had no heat, the light cone over the mirror was broken, and a wooden tissue box holder fell off the wall onto my foot. Four balcony floodlights didn't work, and even if they had, they'd have been far too bright. There was a box of Christmas decorations in the closet, several switches didn't work, and the wall-mounted iPad was outdated, running iOS 12.5.7 while the current version is iOS 26, so it was useless for apps like YouTube. The room Wi-Fi didn't work, so we connected to the general hotel network. Since that shared network let you cast to TVs and speakers, you could accidentally cast into every room, which is a major security and privacy risk. The spa had problems too. The steam room produced no steam during our whole stay, even after we kept pressing the button. The hot tub pressure was a bit low, with bubbles only in the middle and not much around the seats. The sauna didn't get properly hot, and a laser light shone straight into your eyes. The pool area floor was uneven, and the nearby shower temperature couldn't be set properly, it was either too cold or too hot. The walls aren't very soundproof. We heard a barking dog in the neighboring room and guests in the adjoining apartment. Allowing dogs on the top floors, away from stairways, might help reduce the disturbance. Some front desk staff wore shabby T-shirts, so the uniforms were inconsistent and didn't look professional. One employee also parked an electric scooter in reception several times. Small things, but they take away from the sense of quality and professionalism. With proper renovation, stricter maintenance, and more professional attention to detail, the hotel could deserve top reviews again.
