Sheraton Sopot Hotel

The spa was a highlight for me: the pool was lovely, and I enjoyed the hammam and Finnish sauna. One sauna was out of order, though the snow machine outside the Finnish sauna was a fun extra. We spent two nights at the Sheraton in central Sopot. The location couldn't be better, and the bed was amazing. Our room had a shower and bathtub, but the sea view was partly blocked by trees because we were on the first floor. The air conditioning was another downside, sounding like a dishwasher when it was running. Breakfast was the biggest letdown. For a hotel in this class, I expected more choice, local dishes, and superfoods. The cheese selection was mediocre, and the cheese was stale. There weren't even sliced tomatoes, and the rest felt pretty basic. The food quality and range could definitely be improved.

The room was a 10, and the service at the bar was absolutely wonderful. But the Caesar salad caused a problem: it was described as chicken, parmesan, and bacon, yet it also had anchovies, which weren't listed. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with a fish allergy. When we asked for a refund and an explanation, they said that was how the salad was served at the hotel. Okay, but that still didn't explain why the menu left out the anchovies.

The staff were sweet and the location was great, but I came away disappointed. The sink wouldn't drain, and when I moved the nightstand to charge my phone, I found a condom wrapper. It made me wonder how thoroughly the room had been cleaned. The Sheraton lounge felt sad too. In the morning there were stale cookies, chips, apples, and small oranges, while the coffee machine had run out of water and nobody was there to refill it. The pool is part of the spa, so you can't just use it separately. It cost about $40, discounted because the jacuzzi wasn't working. We were directed to park underneath the building, but getting to the room from there wasn't easy. Walking outside was probably simplest. We were charged for that parking, even though the parking right in front was free during our stay and nobody told us. We're titanium members and have stayed at many Marriott properties. This one needs to step it up. Breakfast is very expensive by Polish standards, and there's a great bakery across the street that I'd recommend instead.

Julia at the front desk went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable and trouble-free. The rooms were fantastic, and all the staff were incredible. It's a beautiful hotel right on the beach near the pier in central Sopot. Highly recommended.
