Gościniec Pod Bukiem

It’s quiet and peaceful here, with spacious, comfortable rooms and a gated, monitored property. We could check in at almost any hour, which helped when we arrived at 11:15 PM. Gościniec pod Bukiem (Guest House under Buk) is administratively in Świeradów-Zdrój, though it’s really on the outskirts, about 5 km from the center. If you’re heading to the Jizera Mountains or Karkonosze Mountains and want a slightly higher standard, I’d recommend it. The owner also promised a covered place for our motorbike so it wouldn’t have to stay outside. Dino grocery store is about 450 meters away, handy for a morning walk to get fresh hot bread.

All five of us were delighted. The hosts were very friendly, and the apartment was clean and full of atmosphere, in an old-fashioned style that suits the 250-year-old house. There are hallways where you can relax, and each room can be locked separately. We had two large, comfortable bedrooms for eight people, a big bathroom, a well-equipped kitchen, and a living room where we could hang out with friends. We highly recommend it.

We only stayed 1.5 days, so this is based on that short visit. In January the rooms were 18 degrees Celsius, which felt like a morgue to us. The large bathroom was freezing too, as was one of the two bedrooms. That room is low, with an entrance suited to someone no taller than 170 cm. The apartment takes up the first floor, while the owners live downstairs, and there’s just one entrance. The decor is highlander style, with wood, leather, and wall hangings everywhere, so I wouldn’t recommend it for people with allergies. The thresholds are high and creaky, and the window looks out onto the neighbors’ run-down sheds.

We keep choosing this place when we head to the mountains. The owners are wonderful, and both apartments are clean, comfortable, and spacious. Each has a kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and a living room to relax in. We drive to the trails, so the distance doesn’t bother us. Highly recommend ❤️❤️❤️
