Apartament Trzynastka

For two people, I paid around 800 złoty for six nights, which felt like a great deal for this city. The room was spacious and really nice, with a fairly large bathroom too. There's also a kitchenette upstairs that guests can use any time, day or night. It's right in the city center, so it's a handy base for exploring. The drawback is the gym below: from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m., you can hear weights being dropped from barbells. The sports center is on the first floor, while the rooms are on the third.

The rooms were clean, tidy, and up to a good standard, and the kitchenette had everything we needed. We could hear music from the gym below from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. It wasn't very loud, but it was there in the background, so I took off a star.

For the price, this was a very satisfactory place to stay. The furnishings are simple but decent. There's Wi-Fi, though you have to ask for it, and a TV with just four channels, all in Polish. No BBC, Euronews, German channels, or anything else. Getting here is fine if you don't mind climbing stairs for exercise. Cooking options are limited because there's no toaster, microwave, or oven. Check-in was strange, with nobody seeming to know what was going on, but we did get a room. At checkout, no one was around at 10:00 AM, when we were supposed to leave.

The building felt more like a construction site than a place to stay, and there was a huge building site right outside when we arrived. It did get a star for being clean and for the friendly staff. This might suit young people who just need somewhere to sleep amid the bustle of everyday life. If you want peace and quiet or somewhere to relax and unwind, though, this isn't the place.
