Hotel Lazur

The two buildings are quite different, and that made a big difference to our stay. The main one at Slowackiego Str. 21 looks nice. The double and triple rooms facing the courtyard seemed new, with little balconies overlooking it. The separate building in the courtyard is another story. We spent one night in its ground-floor double room in July and would steer clear of that room type. It was dark and damp, especially with the summer weather, and poorly kept: the flush was broken, the bin was rubbish, and the shower and towel hooks were barely holding on. The bed felt either too soft or simply very worn. There was a small private area with a swing outside, which might have been a plus, but its uneven surface showed through the grass-coloured mat. Even the thermometer was left on the floor instead of mounted on a wall. There was no shampoo or soap, and none was brought after we asked reception. The following day we got the deluxe double with a balcony that we'd booked in advance. The receptionist said those rooms hadn't been available, so apparently they'd been overbooked. I'd rate that room somewhere between 3 and 4 stars, while the first one was a 2. Oddly, both cost the same: 550 PLN (about €128) a night without breakfast. Buffet breakfast gets more praise in reviews than it deserves. There's plenty of it, but the quality is average, and the coffee is closer to 2-star quality. Breakfast costs €10, so a double room with breakfast comes to nearly €150 per night. We've stayed here twice. Last year was fine, this year was much worse. The hotel is in a good location and could be good, but there's an odd uncertainty to the place. Either €100-150 a night doesn't count as much anymore, or the hotel needs to improve its service.

The location was the one good part of our stay. At first glance the hotel looks clean and modern, but after the first night it was clear the staff weren't taking much care with things. The bathroom wasn't properly clean: there was mud at the bottom of the shower, one support was broken so the showerhead couldn't be hung up, and water from the other one sprayed across the whole bathroom. The sink also splashed water everywhere if opened just a little too far. The bed was so soft that you sank about a metre into it. We booked three nights with breakfast and dinner, then found out dinner was served at 4 pm. The food didn't seem prepared with much care. The servers weren't friendly, brought the next course before we'd finished, and barely spoke to us. We only got the menu once, so we didn't know what dinner was or when it had ended. Breakfast was no better: they didn't refill things, and staff weren't around when needed. One woman was practically hitting the kitchen door to get a server's attention. Reception staff weren't pleasant either, barely looked at us, and seemed not to care whether we were there. Our booking also included a beer, but we never got it. Very disappointing. Don't come if you expect your money to be treated as important. I'd love to get it back.

Breakfast was perfect, five stars, so go ahead and include it in the bill. Paid parking is the downside. Apart from that, it was OK.

We liked the clean rooms, good breakfast and friendly staff. A good hotel, and we'd stay here again if we come back to Swinoujscie.
