Śnieżynka

We spent two nights here in June 2017 and are seriously thinking about coming back. The setting near Szcyrk is stunning, and the care from the staff and the facilities made the stay worthwhile. They even seemed to know the best hiking routes, and went out of their way to make us feel at home. The woman running the place was wonderful, though sadly I’ve forgotten her name. It’s a simple place compared with a hotel. There’s a shared fridge on the landing for the rooms instead of minibars, and I don’t think rooms are cleaned daily after check-in, but they were very clean when we arrived and the showers were fine. Breakfast was superb, with good cheese, yogurt, and cold cuts. The coffee was the same sad stuff you find all too often in Poland, so you might want to bring your own coffee maker. This is a great base for outdoor activities around Szcyrk in Silesia. Like other holiday homes nearby, it’s geared toward skiers, but we had no trouble visiting in June for hiking. Even walking to the shops for milk takes about 15 minutes, which is good exercise. “Dom Wczasowy” means “holiday home” in Polish.

The honey cake was nice, but this visit was disappointing. We’ve had better service here before. The coffee was bitter, the hot chocolate arrived without a saucer, and the service felt sloppy and uninterested.

The price makes me especially keen to return. The service was top-notch, the meals were delicious, and there’s a pool and sauna in warm surroundings. The location turned out to be more convenient than I expected, with a modern ski room, nearby parking, a rental shop 200 meters away, and the first lift also 200 meters away. I highly recommend it. I usually don’t bother leaving comments, so the fact that I did says a lot about how well it went. 🙋🏿‍♂️✊🍻

The rooms were roomy and clean, and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was good, with plenty of variety, and you can also get dinner and supper. The bar serves beer and wine, along with other light alcohol. There’s a decent ski room with lockers and boot dryers. For the gondola, you first go downhill a little, take the T-bar using tokens from the hotel, then walk to the slope. A nice way to warm up :) The pool is small and shallow, though it works well for children.
