Apartamenty Amika

We spent three nights at Amika Apartment, four adults and a child, and would give the stay a 5+. It’s right by the train station but still near the center, in a quiet area close to hiking trails. Inside, everything was clean, cozy, and practical, and we felt at home. The tiled floors meant nobody had to worry about making noise by walking around. The shared living and sleeping space for us and the child was laid out thoughtfully. The sofa and armchair fold out, but there’s still easy access around the room without climbing over the beds. Our parents had the charming, cozy bedroom, with a large wardrobe for their luggage. There’s plenty of storage in the living room too, plus a big hallway wardrobe with things like an iron, ironing board, and vacuum cleaner. The kitchen opens onto the living room and had everything we needed, so making breakfast whenever and however we liked was easy. Towels and a hairdryer were provided in the bathroom, along with pretty much everything apart from personal items. The owner is kind and looks after guests. The rate is comparable to a guesthouse, while the service felt very high quality. On a sunny day, stepping out onto the terrace was lovely. We felt well cared for and wholeheartedly recommend AMIKA. We’ll definitely return.

We stayed in the PUCHACZ apartment. It’s small but quite pleasant and very comfortable, and the center is only a three-minute walk away. With the windows open, though, you can hear cars passing early in the morning if you’re sensitive to noise. Some things were missing: there’s no microwave, dishwasher, or washing machine, the latter two of which would have been useful for hygiene and for longer stays with children. The dishes were smeared and the pot was dirty, and we had trouble getting hot water. There was just one towel per person. I’ve always found spare towels for hair or face in similar apartments, so that felt like a surprising bit of penny-pinching. None of the drawbacks sounds huge alone, but there were a number of them. The bed was fairly comfortable; the sofa wasn’t, and it could use a refresh.

I’m allergic and felt suffocated throughout my stay. The reason was mold inside a kitchen cupboard, where all the plates and bowls are kept, so I can’t recommend the apartment to allergy sufferers. The low water pressure and noisy stove might have been forgivable, but the mold is a serious concern for guests.

The train is close by, making it quick and easy to get to the Czech Republic or Jakuszyce for skiing, and the city center is nearby too. The apartment was clean, comfortable, and well equipped, with good beds, fast internet, Netflix, a coffee machine, and a dishwasher. There was even a small first aid kit and binoculars for looking at the Karkonosze Mountains. Parking was a plus, as was the great communication with the lovely Mrs. Dagmara. Highly recommend!
