Chatka u Dziadka

The owner was lovely and helpful, and communication was excellent. The rooms are cozy and clean. The standard room is small, with a tiny bathroom, but it’s perfectly adequate. It’s a great base for trips north of Szklarska Poręba, and the center is only a 5-7-minute walk away.

Mr. Łukasz was a real treasure trove of local knowledge, with lots of useful suggestions about where to go, what to see, and where to eat. The owners are friendly and helpful. The room was clean, well kept, and comfortable, with a fully equipped kitchenette, TV, and private toilet. There’s a nice outdoor spot for coffee or relaxing after a day of hiking. I could see Wysoki Kamień outside, and a deer came up to the cottage windows to greet me on my first day. It’s a peaceful neighborhood but still close to the center, no more than 10 minutes away. The Szklarska Poręba Górna train station is nearby. I came by train, but there’s parking for guests arriving by car. The place clearly cares about guests’ comfort and satisfaction. I highly recommend it.

One lovely part of staying at Chatka u Dziadka was how personal it felt. The cottage is small, so there aren’t crowds or much noise, and the hosts know the guests and have time to chat. We felt at home and were often asked if everything was okay. The hosts are kind, helpful, and interested in their guests. They happily share local knowledge, suggest outings, and tell you interesting things about the area. The friendly dogs are another treat, especially for animal lovers. Guests can use the garden, fire pit, and grill. The cottage is in a quiet part of Szklarska Poręba. It gets dark and peaceful at night, so you can easily look at the stars, and animals are welcome too. Our room was comfortable, with perfect beds and a clean, tidy bathroom. Everything we needed was provided. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the tiny kitchenette was still perfectly suitable for a hot breakfast or dinner, and probably even managing a meal. Waste sorting is a big plus, with detailed instructions. Mr. Łukasz recommended great trails for us, and since we brought our bikes, he also gave us a safe place to store them. Guests can borrow maps, brochures, and catalogs for trips, and Mrs. Monika gave us a cycling route map as a souvenir. We’ll be tempted to return and try those routes! :) From our room window we could see Wysoki Kamień Mountain and the distinctive tower beside the shelter. The cottage is close to the train station, the city center, and the trailheads. That cozy stay and helpful hosting made for a memorable vacation, and I’ll definitely return.
