A lovely spot for a weekend away.

The bathroom was in good shape and clearly clean, and the towels were fresh. Our room was small, though the bed was large and the bedding smelled nice. I liked that there was no TV. Carpeted hallways kept the sound of kids running on the stairs down. The kitchen, tucked into the basement, was the one letdown: small and a little neglected. The place feels like it belongs to another century, oddly surrounded by unattractive apartment blocks. It might have felt warmer indoors, but it was -20 degrees outside, so our tea making it to morning without freezing was a win.

The road leading in is poorly marked and gets dark and unpleasant in the evening. Once inside, though, the place is cozy, clean, and close to the city center, with very friendly staff. Our room had a private bathroom, a balcony with two armchairs, Wi-Fi, and a bedside table with a lamp. It was warm, and there was an extra heater too. They’d left two sparkling waters and cookies. There was no soap, shampoo, or hairdryer, and the bathroom outlet didn’t work. An outlet by the bed for charging a phone would’ve been useful.

The location is decent and the interior has atmosphere, but upkeep and finish quality fall short. There are lots of little problems, including a cramped shower with issues and heating troubles. For the price, I didn’t feel it was good value. The TV is a mess, with just a few free terrestrial channels, and it sits on a table when it could be wall-mounted.
