Villa Jelenica

The manager was friendly, the views were lovely, and the food at the Inn was good. But the room was a disaster: cracks where the walls and ceiling joined, stains on the carpet that made it feel awful to walk on barefoot, and water marks and fingerprints on the walls. The receptionist was very unpleasant, both on the phone and at the desk, as if we had to apologize just for being there. I won’t go into the details. We’d stayed before and were really disappointed this time. That was our second visit, and our last.

The terrace is lovely and the setting is beautiful, but I’d stick to bottled drinks. The food was stale, and the staff got almost every order wrong. The chicken breast was breaded in foul-smelling oil that seemed not to have been changed in a long time. The borscht only looked like soup because of its color, and the meat croquette was a brick that tasted like paper. A family at the next table was also unhappy with their stale goulash.

The location is great, and the rooms are cozy and in decent shape. That’s about where the positives end. I arrived a few minutes after 2 p.m. to check in, but nobody was at the desk. A while later, a confused woman appeared and struggled to get me checked in. With better service, Jelenica would have earned more stars.

There’s a conference room on the ground floor with billiards, ping-pong, and a few games and toys. The place is close to all the attractions of Równica. The price feels a bit high next to the beautiful manor house upstairs, especially since the rooms aren’t that different.
