The rooms are a good reason to book, but I wouldn’t choose it for the food. It’s very traditional and didn’t feel suited to summer. Breakfast, though, was good.

The room was spacious and nice, and the area is well placed for a relaxing break, but first impressions were misleading. There was adhesive tape all over the hotel, the carpet and bedding were stained, the shower was badly worn, and chocolate stains on the curtain greeted you when you stepped onto the balcony. Most of the staff were very friendly. Reception wasn’t always staffed, though, so leaving before 6 a.m. was a problem. We were told someone would be there, but waited 30 minutes and nobody showed up, and the emergency exit was locked too. Half-board meals were repetitive and felt like cafeteria food, though there was some choice and you wouldn’t go hungry. I spent ages looking for the bar and couldn’t find it. It seemed to be just a drinks fridge beside the dish return area. Outside peak season there isn’t much to do, and we had to push reception quite hard to get help. I also missed having a medical consultation; what was offered felt more like physiotherapy. There was only one person handling that whole area, but he did his job very well.
