The cigarette smell in the room was overwhelming. Even the pillows and sheets reeked of smoke, and the ventilation was awful. We raised this shortly after checking in, but they wouldn't cancel without a charge and just pointed to their policy. We explained that the smoke was a health concern, not a change of plans or a voluntary cancellation. They still refused to help. The room felt unclean, unhealthy, and unsuitable to stay in. If clean air matters to you, stay away. I'd pay a bit more for somewhere better, even if this place is cheap. In my opinion, the five-star reviews don't match what we experienced.
There wasn't even a kitchen or wardrobe, and we had nowhere to put our things. The room was tiny, with no lights in the corridor. The only bathroom had a small shower, smelled bad, and had to serve six rooms, so it was hard to use. The hairdryer barely worked, and we couldn't dry our hair. Sleep was out of the question. The neighbors were loud and smoked in their room, and street noise kept us from sleeping with the window open until 4 am. Check Google Maps instead of trusting the Booking rating.
I waited from midnight until 2am and still couldn't get into my room, then left dragging my luggage to find somewhere else. There was only a keypad door at the entrance, no reception, and neither I nor my booking app could figure out how to get a room key. My phone battery was nearly dead after arriving in Poland. Luckily, another hostel guest let me in so I could use a power outlet, but the booking app couldn't reach the property to find out how to enter the hostel or my room. The entrance was tucked among clubs and bars, with drunk people spilling out into the street. I've never felt so scared trying to get inside somewhere to rest. Later, I was told they couldn't get me a refund and that I should ask the property myself. Good luck with that. Never again. If you care about your time, safety, and sanity, stay away.
The room was in very poor shape, and the street and neighbors made it hard to sleep. The pillows were huge and uncomfortable too. Security felt flimsy, with only the thin room door and the main entrance door between you and the street. There was just one outlet for a double room, tucked under the table in the corner across from the bed, so charging a phone beside the bed wasn't possible.
The location is really good, and that mattered for the price. The place isn't anything special, just an okay place to stay, but with the location and nearby prices, I can't give it anything but five stars. I had a single room with a bed and was quite satisfied. It was clean, and the shared toilet was clean most of the time. Check-in and check-out instructions were detailed, so finding the place and getting settled was easy. The street is lively, and you can hear weekend parties from the room and toilet, though the noise in my room was moderate. From the reviews, I'd guessed the rooms might differ and ratings depend a lot on which one you get.
