Maloves Spa Resort

The rooftop bar and restaurant won us over: the view was stunning, the staff were lovely, and the mussels, Caesar salad, and prawn salad were delicious. We were three adults and a five-year-old in a first-floor apartment, and had a really happy stay. We travel a lot and have stayed in hotels with different star ratings, so we arrived with an open mind after reading some reviews. We’re on our last day now and would definitely come back. Highly recommended, unless you’re one of those “kings” 😉 There was plenty of all-inclusive food to choose from, with different dishes each day. When something was nearly gone, staff replaced it right away, even when it was busy, and apologized. The spa was clean, professional, and relaxing. All three pools were clean, warm, and just right, with plenty of loungers and no one reserving them, so there was always space. The rooftop pool tiles could use replacing. The rooms were lovely and clean, with comfortable beds, a balcony, small fridge, coffee machine, kettle, hairdryer, two TVs, and air conditioning in each room. The location is ideal, close to pubs, restaurants, the beach, and the amusement park. There are two parking options, underground or by the hotel. A few things could be better. The indoor play area is limited, and the outdoor one is awkward to reach, though my son loved both. There was no evening entertainment during the season. Some snacks by the outdoor pool, like chips, pizza, sandwiches, or panini, would be welcome, as would evening music from around 9 p.m. to midnight and livelier activities for kids, such as clowns, music, or dancing. A private beach area with loungers for an extra charge would be a great addition. The young lifeguard was very helpful and nice, but the older one kept disappearing. The girl at the outdoor pool bar was very nice too, though the bar selection was limited. If they made a few changes, especially to the tiles and entertainment, I think this place should get at least four stars.

Things were mostly fine, though the hot meals could have used a bit more variety and imagination. The renovation on the fourth floor meant the part of the hotel that was probably most interesting to us stayed out of view.

The underground spa and the pool on the top floor, with its sea view, were highlights 👌. Our room was spacious, with a big bathroom, and had a simple, modern look. The food was good and there was plenty of it.
