Friends Hostel

The location is great, close to restaurants and attractions around the old market square. After checkout, we could leave our luggage there while exploring the old town. Check-in was easy, and the woman at reception was very welcoming. Our room was neat and clean, with fresh linen and a firm bed. The bathroom facilities were okay, and the WiFi was weak but usable for basic things. The radiator was turned up very high, so we opened a window to cool the room, which was a bit of a problem overnight. Our room faced the street and there was quite a bit of traffic noise in the morning. If you can, I’d ask for a room that doesn’t face the street.

It’s a basic hostel with clean rooms, though some of the electronic devices don’t work and there isn’t a proper kitchen for cooking. Still, it’s a nice option for a weekend, and I recommend it.

I paid for 3 nights but ended up staying only one, and it seems you’ll never get your money back if something goes wrong. The other negative comments below are true too. The building felt dark and old, and I felt unsafe before even reaching my room. The shower was only partly enclosed by glass, so water went everywhere and there was nothing to mop it up with. There was a beep from somewhere on the apartment roof every 10-15 seconds. Reception couldn’t fix it and brought me earplugs instead. The WiFi didn’t work, the sink drained poorly, and nobody was at reception at 8:30am. I left personal belongings in the room, but nobody told me, even when I came back for my luggage late in the afternoon.

The price is low for accommodation this good, and the kitchen has everything you need to cook for yourself. It’s a very good hostel. I’m taking off a star because the shared space is extremely minimal.
