Galeria Italiana Apartments

We stayed in apartment 26, and the shower flooded because the drain was blocked. The place was falling to bits and nothing like the images on booking.com, which were very misleading.

Dirty pillows, and overnight water kept dripping onto the balcony roof. The bathroom lights blinked constantly, so showering felt like being in a dance club. The shower door was broken, leaving a gap where water leaked out, and the shower head sprayed everywhere. We booked the apartment for five. One bed creaked terribly, so one of us had to sleep on the couch. This place feels like an old wife: it still works, but everything is gradually falling apart.

The location was excellent, and there’s a washing machine, though no dryer. There are two bathrooms and enough room for six guests. We booked through Booking.com for seven people: three seniors, two parents, and two children. It might fit three couples, but seven would only be comfortable if one of those seven frat boys was drunk enough not to mind sleeping on the actual couch, which doesn’t pull out. The other beds had very thin, uncomfortable mattresses. There’s no air conditioning, so keep that in mind for hot weather, and there are unrepaired holes in the walls. Early in the morning, there’s only one way out, through the bar on the floor below. If there were a fire and you didn’t know which exit to use or which switch above your head opens the doors, you’d be cooked. I was more disappointed by the owner’s dishonest posting of my Booking.com review, which included only the good things, than by the sales pitch.

The apartment is modern, in a quiet central spot, with self check-in and a reception. The staff were friendly, too. The elevator wasn’t working. I’d still recommend it! 🙌🏼
