At 4 a.m., someone was screaming, which was frightening and seriously disturbed me. I went to reception and asked to switch rooms or get a private room, but the staff were rude and didn’t help. I was prepared to pay extra, yet they wanted me to pay for two nights instead of just the coming night. That made no sense in the situation. There was no empathy or effort to sort things out, just a terrible attitude. A very badly handled stay.

Best hostel in Wroclaw. The reception service is great, and the employees are professional. I saw the staff handle a situation with some guests who had come back from the bar feeling refreshed and wise, and the woman with white hair dealt with it brilliantly. She wasn’t the only one who handled things well, either. I’m writing this because everyone I’ve met here has tried to make things work. You’ll be in good hands.

The building is beautiful, the location is fantastic, and the rooms are comfortable. The staff were kind and very helpful. It’s great value, though I stayed in a mixed dorm and it can get noisy, which is part of hostel life. Bring your own towels if you can, since everything is available for an extra cost.

The room was large for six beds, and each person had a locker. Reception gives you a key, so there’s no need to bring your own padlock. Each bed also has its own reading light and socket. The bathroom and toilet are together, spacious, and clean, with toilet paper and soap provided. Still, I wasn’t happy staying here. There was no reply to my question on Booking.com, and using the kitchen costs 5 zloty. I’ve never heard of a hostel charging just to enter the kitchen, which was empty and had nothing to offer. I didn’t want to pay for breakfast after that start. The bedding was uncomfortable: the pillowcase was bumpy and irritated my skin, the wool inside the pillow had clumped, and the duvet cover was worn out even though the duvet itself was light. The mattress foam was dented too. I found clean(?) sheets, a duvet, and a pillow in my locker and made my own bed. But after one man left, his sheets weren’t changed before another man slept in that mess. Why weren’t the clean ones in the locker then? It seemed like they didn’t clean properly. The wifi didn’t work on the second floor. If you depend on internet access in your room, that would be awful, though the connection on the main floor was good enough to work there. There’s no chance to socialize or meet other travelers here, it’s just a place to sleep and leave. Wroclaw feels very small compared with my own city, so the location wouldn’t have been a problem if I hadn’t stayed here. I used my own discount, otherwise I wouldn’t really pay to stay here.
