We really enjoyed wandering around the peaceful riverside area, with its bridges, islands, and churches. The reception staff were lovely and spoke excellent English. They clearly explained how to get to the parking and helped us arrange an extra night. The room was fine, though the outlets were awkwardly placed and there was no bedside light. The location and friendly staff made those little inconveniences easier to live with.
Breakfast on the boat moored behind the hotel was a real treat. There was a good spread of fresh salads, olives, pickles, local meats and cheeses, plus waffles, pancakes, and fruit. Sitting by the water with the river and city buildings around us made for a lovely start to the day. The hotel itself has lots of historic character, from the vaulted ceilings and broad arched hallways to the classic staircase. I liked the tucked-away seating areas, especially the blue velvet wingback chairs. The building felt peaceful, and reception was smart and welcoming. Our room was very clean with fresh bedding, and had a hairdryer. The traditional keys fit the old-fashioned feel. Toiletries were basic, so you may want to bring your own, though the staff were friendly and happy to help. It’s a quiet spot by the river, with a pleasant walk across the bridges to the main square and cathedral spires. There are cobbled streets nearby, so comfortable shoes are a good idea. We also found a large park where people gather in good weather, and several water bars along the waterfront. A great value weekend stay, and that breakfast boat made it memorable.
It’s so romantic and beautiful that I can hardly find the words. I’d love to come back.
The location is ideal, with lots of sights nearby and water all around. My room was quiet, and the breakfast buffet had a pretty wide selection. The staff were friendly and helpful, and someone was available around the clock. The room itself was basic and standard, though it could use an update.
The staff were really nice and helpful, and we enjoyed the service and breakfast during our two nights at Hotel Tumski. Most sights are close by. The India Island is just a two-minute walk away, and we had some very good Indian food there.
