MSC Apartments Honeymoon

The views were so-so, and the money seemed to be the main concern. When I arrived, the entrance and yard looked awful, with animals running around and a mess outside. Inside, the hallway was filthy and smelled bad, and the apartment had a stench too. It needed airing out. A curtain by the apartment door hid a pile of junk, and there were five cats in the hallway, four of them small. I wanted to cry when I saw the place and asked for my money back, but the owner refused. He said we should be glad to get an apartment at that price, because he could have charged another 200 PLN for the August long weekend. In my opinion, he was being a bit sly, focused on keeping the money while not caring what people had to sleep in. I'd suggest he stay in that stinking house himself. It doesn't seem to bother him that guests sleep in those conditions. I don't recommend it. I'm surprised nothing has changed in the year since another guest left a negative review.

Once I got inside, I felt a little less worried. The apartment is small and low, but has what two people need: a well-equipped kitchen, a large bed and wardrobe, and a spacious bathroom with a bathtub and washing machine. The area is quiet, though far from the center. The nearest shop is over a kilometer away uphill, then a bit downhill, as you'd expect in the mountains. Ela, one of the staff, was a real plus, very kind, friendly and helpful. Getting to that apartment was another story. The house looks worn down from outside, the yard is neglected, and the hallway smelled terrible. The stairs were in such poor shape I climbed them carefully. There was a curtain beside the apartment door with junk behind it. The kitchen had everything, but I had to wash the dishes and pans before using them, even though we paid a cleaning fee. It's cramped inside. Getting to the fridge and kitchen cupboards is awkward, and there's barely a gap between the bed and the wardrobe, making that hard to reach too. There were boxes, bags and other junk in cupboards in both the room and bathroom. The window view was very average, mostly houses and construction sites, with a distant peak visible only if you leaned out. It's an attic, and although there's supposedly air conditioning, it's only in the kitchen and didn't cool the room when I checked. Fine for a night or two, but I wouldn't recommend staying longer. There isn't really a spot to sit outside and have coffee either.

The kitchen had all the basics, from pots and dishes to cutlery, cups and a kettle. The bathroom was large and clean, with hot water, and the bedding itself was clean too. But the road in is terrible, with several hundred meters of clay and rocks in poor condition. The mattress is badly worn and crumpled, and the cover under the sheet was dirty and looked as if it had never been changed. There were also hidden cleaning fees, despite the cleaning I did after the first night.

It's a peaceful area with clean air, parking and friendly, helpful hosts. The apartment was clean and nice, with wine and sweets waiting when we arrived. The kitchen had the pots, plates, cutlery, cups, kettle, fridge and microwave we needed, and the bathroom was pleasant, with fresh towels and hot water. It's a good base for hiking in Nosal, and there's a bus stop nearby for rides into the center of Zakopane. I'd recommend it for a quiet but active holiday.
