Zakopiański Dwór

When the sky is clear, you can see beautiful stars right from the window. I also really enjoyed dinner at the hotel, with its traditional Polish cuisine, and the breakfast buffet was superb. The wooden architecture gives the place a relaxing feel, and we felt very welcome.

The family room was spacious enough for the four of us, with comfortable beds, warm blankets, plenty of natural light, and large, attractive furniture. The hotel is a nice, quaint place in a convenient part of the region. If you need a kettle, you can ask and they’ll provide one. The shower can be tricky because the water fluctuates. Breakfast was delicious, especially the fresh, tasty eggs. We had dinner there a few times and generally enjoyed the food. Prices felt reasonable and more local than resort-like, but keep in mind that food service ends at 18:00. The staff were friendly, and they carefully cleared snow from the parking area each day. They also had sleds the kids could borrow for the nearby park and hills, a short walk to the north. A great stay and a lovely first visit to town.

The breakfast buffet had a good range of fresh-looking cold foods, and you could ask the staff for hot dishes like scrambled eggs, omelettes, or sausages. I did miss having more local or homemade options. The bar and restaurant both closed at 18:00, which felt too early, and we wished we could get a bite or a drink later in the evening. The reception stayed open until 23:00, but there was no chance to buy coffee, tea, drinks, or snacks there. Zakopiański Dwór sits at the edge of central Zakopane, within walking distance of restaurants, nightlife, and the mountain lifts. Parking is available on site for a fee. The room was simply furnished with a bed, armchair, table, and Polish-channel flat-screen TV. There was no kettle, minibar, or air conditioning, and the foam-like mattress wasn’t very comfortable. The room seemed clean, though it wasn’t cleaned during our stay. The shared spaces were clean but felt a bit cold and impersonal. Staff were somewhat reserved, and I missed a more genuine sense of service, welcome, and care.

The breakfast was decent, with enough choice for our two days. The mattresses were very soft, so they won’t suit anyone who prefers a firmer bed. We stayed for two nights and were put in rooms by the reception. There was an odd smell we couldn’t get rid of, and the noise in the morning, when reception was busy, made it hard to sleep comfortably. It’s fine for a night or two, but I wouldn’t stay longer.
