Stary Dwór

Big, delicious portions 😋, and the staff are kind.

At Stary Dwór, the food is good, though breakfast is modest. You can ask for hot scrambled eggs or sausages. The price for what you get seems okay, but I’m not sure I’d stay again. My feelings about the place are mixed. Service standards were below par. The room itself felt mediocre despite seeming clean, with an old, hard bed and an old wardrobe. On a business trip, the lack of a chair and awkward furniture made it hard to work at the desk. The bathroom has been renovated, but I wondered how long ago: there are paint marks on the tiles, and the shower is covered in limescale.

Clean, spacious rooms and a generous, tasty breakfast included in the price. The area is quiet and good for relaxing, yet close to the city center. The staff were professional, friendly, and helpful. Only small drawback: there’s no grill, so bring your own if you want to grill sausages outside the hotel.

The reviews and star rating had me expecting a good restaurant, but the food was disappointing. The borscht with croquettes was tasteless and had far too much vinegar. The chicken soup seemed seasoned with bouillon cubes or Vegeta. The Beskid trough came with meat buried under a heavy mushroom sauce that overwhelmed its flavor. Maybe that was for the best, since the meat didn’t taste stale. The mushrooms and onions were undercooked, almost raw.
