Las Olas Beach House

A great little house for relaxing, with everything you need and, especially, cold air conditioning. You can walk to the beach, and there’s a great restaurant down the road called Islote. The road is very busy, though, so take care when pulling in or out. I’d add a privacy wall around the outdoor shower in the backyard, since a camera looks directly at it.

There’s so much around this part of Arecibo that we couldn’t fit it all in, so we’re planning to come back. The nearby beaches are amazing, the food is great, and the supermarket is awesome, with a bakery inside.

From day one, this was nothing like the stay I expected. The listing says there’s AC throughout, but only the bedrooms had it, leaving the common areas hot and uncomfortable. We spent the vacation anticipating daily problems. The washer, iron, refrigerator, and oven/stove weren’t working, and we had to throw food away. The host eventually replaced the washer and refrigerator, but some stove burners still didn’t work and the oven didn’t work at all, so cooking was limited. There was a horrible sewage smell, mostly at night, coming from one bathroom. We had no problem paying an extra-person fee, but $300 seemed excessive. The host refused to process it through the app and would only take cash in person. We were accused of disconnecting the cameras, which wasn’t true. The internet was down almost the whole time, and we couldn’t enjoy ourselves. I’ve stayed at many Airbnbs without problems. I’m sorry, but not sorry, this was my honest experience.

We had a great stay here as a family and would happily come back. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed, and the owner made us feel welcome and was really helpful.
