Costa Bahia Hotel & Convention Center

The main pool by the side stayed very cloudy during the two days we were there. The smaller pool in back was nice, though it needed more cleaning than once a day because leaves and debris were floating in it. Our room also had no wash rags. After I requested two and an extra blanket, it took a day to get the rags. What I won't let go is how the receptionist treated us. My husband speaks Spanish and I don't, though I'm learning. While we waited at the desk, I asked why he was upset. He explained to me in English that there was no guest parking out front and we'd had to use the employee lot. The receptionist cut into our conversation and demanded that he show her respect for criticizing the hotel, even though he wasn't speaking to her or being rude. After that, they spoke Spanish to me and ignored him. Later, we saw that same receptionist getting into her white vehicle, which was parked in front of the hotel. There was no manager around for days, either. I usually let a lot of things go, but her rudeness and lack of consideration made this one impossible to overlook.

The rooms have enough space, and there's a desk if you need to work. I've stayed here before because it's close to my hometown, Yauco, and the location works perfectly for me.

It's a pleasant place with a great lobby and friendly staff who are willing to help. There are two small pools, a casino, and a playroom for kids. Just know there's no laundry service, which gets inconvenient on a longer stay. Weekend celebrations can also get loud, with fireworks as late as 1:30 AM.

The one thing I wasn't happy with was the hot water, maybe I'm spoiled. Still, the staff were always gracious and polite, and even though our family doesn't speak Spanish, they treated us like family. Some staff spoke a little English and others were fluent. We were there on vacation last February, and this hidden gem is in a great spot for exploring south PR. We recommend it and can't wait to come back soon.
