This is a basic hotel, and the rates aren't cheap. The false ceiling in our room seemed to let every sound through. We could hear someone snoring on one side and coughing in the room across from us. People on every floor also hang wet clothes on the hallway walls. I can't believe they allow that kind of tacky behavior. At these prices, you'd expect better supervision and basic standards.
We found the restaurant easy to get to, with plenty of parking, and it sits right on the water, handy if you're arriving by boat or dinghy. The food arrived hot and tasted good. We had fish fillet, conch, fried pork, and pizza. Our waitress was attentive and helpful, and the service was excellent. There was live music with singing and different instruments on Friday night, plus indoor and outdoor dining and bars, a video game room, and entertainment for kids outside the entrance. It's a lively, very family-friendly place. This review is only about the restaurant.
The property was good, though the rooms were surprisingly small. The self-serve breakfast was just okay, with eggs, coffee, bread, cereal, juice, fruit, and cornbread in a small room. The area is very quiet, with not much around beyond a few bars at night if you find the right one. The pool was good. The restaurant didn't attend, though it was mostly quiet during the week and really full on the weekend. I'd still give the place a 10/10, but I had expected it to be better.
I never smoked in the room, but I was charged a $50 fee for the no-smoking policy and am still waiting for the refund. There was no Wi-Fi in my room. I asked maintenance, and they said the signal didn't reach it. Then I went to the restaurant alone and waited more than three hours for a simple meal. I finally got tired of waiting and asked for it to go, but when it came, it was cold and salty, so I threw it out. That was $50 down the drain. Not a good experience. I should get a partial refund for the Wi-Fi, and, as I said, I'm still waiting for my $50 refund.
We were staying in Ponce and drove over after seeing Full Moon Restaurant on Facebook in Florida. I was looking forward to what sounded like an amazing place, but it was a big disappointment. After an hour and a half, we learned our food hadn't even started being prepared. When we asked the server, he said it would take another two hours. We paid for the water and left. The server should have told us upfront that food would take three hours, and we would have gone elsewhere. They shouldn't promote themselves on Facebook if the wait is unreasonable. So sad.
