Dream's Hotel Puerto Rico

I'm local, so here's a heads-up for tourists: this street has a few popular college spots, but it's in a rough part of the neighborhood. Rio Piedras is improving around the center, though there are still some shady areas, especially at night. The hotel calls this San Juan, but it's far from the beach. For a more comfortable stay, I'd head toward the coast. I think you'll feel safer there. Also, be careful with the tiled public sidewalk right outside the hotel. It gets slippery when wet, and there isn't a warning sign. The ramp is tiled too and pretty steep. As a disabled man, I wouldn't consider the small rug they provide wide enough or safe for wheelchair users. Other ADA folks may want to avoid it. Edit: I just noticed this is a one-star hotel, so my original three-star rating was generous. I'm lowering it.

The room was decent, but the rest could use work. Nobody was at the front desk when we arrived, there was no shampoo in the room or at reception, and some towels had holes.

Alejandro was a real asset to the team at Dreams Hotel Isla de Cabra, Puerto Rico. He stayed composed and organized even during busy periods, and worked smoothly with the kitchen and front-of-house staff to keep things moving. His service was attentive and courteous, with good timing, clear communication, and strong menu knowledge. He anticipated what guests needed and made the meal feel seamless. Alejandro represents the Dreams brand well and sets a high standard for service at the property. He's an outstanding waiter.

The lobby was very clean, and the staff were awesome. I was traveling with my elderly father, who has trouble with stairs, and they gave us a ground-floor room. It was cozy and clean, too. Some reviews here didn't match my own experience. I'd definitely recommend this place.
