My husband and I felt comfortable in the unit, which was spacious, clean, comfortable, and affordable. Tapia Haus 103 is very secure, with a code needed to enter both the breakfast area and the unit. The surrounding location was a little less desirable. My one issue was that I never received an entry code. I had to reach the business owner through WhatsApp, and there's nobody on site to speak with in person. Make sure you have an entry code before your stay. This is an Airbnb.

The area was quiet, and there's a convenience store right across the street, plus a smoke shop and liquor store. The beach is around a 10-minute walk away. I loved my stay and couldn't wait to leave a review. The staff were super friendly and accommodating, and the room was cozy and nicely decorated. A few things could be improved for future guests, though. The bathroom lights were out, the rooms were freezing, and the room smelled like mildew, as if they'd cleaned it with an old rag. I wiped everything down myself and it was much better. Apart from those things, my stay was perfect.

The beach and Walgreens are both about a five-minute walk away, and there are plenty of food options nearby. We stayed at Tapia Haus 103 for five days over spring break, nine people in three rooms. Staff worked with our needs, letting us check in early and store our bags for a day. There was fresh coffee ready by the time we woke up, and the rooms were decent. Wi-Fi worked well, the rooms had large TVs, and both hot water and A/C worked throughout. The building and room doors use entry codes, and I felt safe during the stay. It works more like an Airbnb, which was fine for us, and it's a no-frills place. I'd recommend it for younger people on vacation, but not for families or couples. The futon or crib was extremely stiff and should be replaced, since it isn't suitable for an adult. I don't think the towels were changed, and it would be great if they offered fresh ones every two days.

I booked a room through booking.com and promptly prepaid after the property sent an invoice. A week later, they said they couldn't honor the reservation because the price was wrong, and asked me to pay about 10% more than I already had.

By the second and third nights, the room smelled like sewage all night, and the street and neighboring rooms were noisy at every hour. Our bed was right beside the window on a busy road. We stayed because we figured we’d only be using the room to sleep, and we’d arrived too late to find another option. The room wasn’t the one we’d picked online. It was tiny, with a small double bed for two, and the headboard was so dusty that it got on our faces. The bed hadn’t been made and the pillows were on top of the closet. In the morning we found crumbs in the fridge and a dirty coffee maker. The walls were scratched, the shades were battered, there were no curtains on the bathroom window despite the clear view into the shower, and every shower was cold. We were excited by the location and the listing photos, but this place really isn’t up to standard. For only about $25 more per night, you could stay somewhere nicer. I wouldn’t recommend it or come back. It’s a dump, sorry not sorry.
