MOOD HAUS by DW - 70's Retro Stays

Our apartment was clean and well equipped, with fun retro decor. The shower had good temperature and pressure, and the more residential street in Santurce wasn't too loud. We did hear fireworks, probably because of the holidays. You'll get them anywhere on the island around Christmas, NYE, Three Kings, and similar occasions. It was considerate of them to provide enough earplugs for everyone. Street parking was easy, and the beach was about a 10-minute walk. There are lots of nearby restaurants, including good spots for traditional Puerto Rican food like Bebo's Cafe & La Cueva. I have mobility issues but could walk around the neighborhood to Kasalta, which was better when I was little but is still decent, as well as other restaurants, bars, and the beach. Dulcesalado was amazing, with the best French Toast I've ever had. Driving or taking an Uber around San Juan was affordable. Parking was easy when I returned by car. Ubers arrived quickly, and trips to museums and other bars and restaurants cost around $10. The airport ride was quick and easy, about $20. Management was easy to work with and accommodating about a couple of special requests. I don't want to share the details, but we appreciated how considerate they were.

We stayed in the Diana suite as a family and had a lovely visit, including our dog, Lolita. The suite was clean, the linens were comfortable, and I liked the fun, unique decor, cute details, bare floors, and comfortable bathroom. The location made it easy to walk to the beach, restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques. We look forward to trying other DW properties. If you have a car, street parking is available but can be limited because the area is close to popular shops and restaurants. We used Uber several times to go to VSJ, the malls, and elsewhere so we could keep our spot in front of the property, and it worked out great.

The local guide with suggestions and experiences was really helpful, and I loved the cute decor and the candle they gave us. Mood HAUS was attentive throughout our stay and made sure we were comfortable. Our first trip to Puerto Rico was amazing, and I highly recommend staying here.

The thoughtful little touches made the studio feel welcoming: cold water was waiting, the A/C was already running, and there were ice trays, plenty of dishes, a kettle, mirrors, and somewhere to hang clothes. I loved the record-player corner with its disco ball, and the colors gave the place a great atmosphere. The photos matched the space, which had enough room for me. The host checked in the next day; when I said the pillows felt too stiff, softer ones arrived within two hours. Check-in and checkout were easy, and I felt comfortable traveling here solo. The shower was fine, though hot water took a little while. Towels, washcloths, beach towels, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap were supplied. There were also two beach chairs, a TV, two nightstands with earplugs, and two lamps. The beach is about an 8-10 minute walk, with plenty of good food nearby. An Uber to the airport, Viejo San Juan, or Plaza Las Americas takes about 10 minutes. It’s a quieter location, so look elsewhere if you want somewhere busier. I’m giving four stars because I didn’t feel I had much privacy on the patio. It wasn’t fully covered, and the two-story building across the street made me worry someone might look over. The studio has clear sliding doors with curtains, so solo travelers should keep that in mind. The host was attentive and the service was great.
