Ola Boutique Hotel

Everything was within walking distance, which I loved. The hotel sits right on the strip, near all kinds of food, shopping, and clubs, and the workers were so nice and welcoming. I had no problems, never felt unsafe, and would definitely come back. The bathroom was the one bother: there's no curtain or other separation around the shower, so the floor stayed soaked the whole time. They do provide floor towels, but I'd prefer a proper barrier. Still glad I picked this place.

I asked to change my dates and was told to have Expedia contact the hotel. Expedia did, but the hotel wouldn't change the dates or credit my money. I've never run into this kind of issue at another place, where changing dates or reinstating a stay has never been a problem. Now I've lost $400+. Save your money and book somewhere accommodating. Guest services asked me to email the hotel, but they never replied, even though they supposedly answered Expedia the same day.

The breakfast was great, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. They quickly and courteously upgraded my room, so the customer service was perfect. The location is excellent in San Juan, across from a 24 hour supermarket and within walking distance of restaurants and coffee shops. There are still things to fix. Water from the bathroom can leak onto the floor and create a hazard. The parking area is very small and doesn't guarantee a spot. Since spaces are first come, first served, I don't think there should be an extra charge for parking. We also encountered bed bugs, which we reported at checkout on our last night, but nobody addressed it.

Carlos served breakfast and was especially friendly, going beyond his duties to share great places to visit. The staff friendliness alone would earn five stars. Our room was good and had the essentials, but some things were inconvenient: the bathroom floor was very slippery, the walls had no tiles and only ugly paint, and there were just two towels for our family of three. There were no hooks or anywhere to hang clothes while changing in the shower. Parking costs $25. There's a 24-hour supermarket across the street, and I think you may be able to park there for free, but I'm not sure.
