Patio Elba Boutique Hotel

The hotel itself is charming, the room was spacious and clean, and the kitchenette was nicely equipped. It's very simple but pleasant. A few more hooks and cabinets in the barroom would help. For us, the location was the real issue. We didn't feel safe going out for a late dinner. Our airport cab driver warned us to be careful and waited to make sure we got inside, saying there were a lot of abandoned buildings on the street. There's a great brunch place down the block, and others might not feel as limited when looking for dinner, but we wouldn't return. The staff, who helped us by text, were very helpful.

My unit was clean and tidy, with AC throughout and a handy kitchenette. The bed was comfortable, though not plush, and the water pressure beat what I had at my Airbnb. For somewhere just to sleep and freshen up, it worked perfectly. I've stayed in three places in Puerto Rico, and this was worth the price. I'd recommend it over the Hilton because the staff were much kinder and more helpful. The neighborhood isn't walkable to beaches or convenience stores, and the block felt a little sketchy after dark. During the day, though, I felt comfortable walking alone as a woman of color. I booked through my credit card travel setup and never got the gate code or room instructions by email, but the virtual staff were very helpful even after hours, and I got settled without a problem.

My family and I loved our stay at Patio Elba Suites. I look for little boutique hotels that feel like hidden gems when I travel, and this one was just that. My daughter spent every night in the hot tub, and I loved the modern touches and chic feel throughout the property. The manager was very accommodating. When we had a hot water issue, he came right away to help. Our room stayed clean and looked exactly like the pictures. The key pad made it easy to get in, and the kitchenette was great for storing snacks and drinks for the kids. Patio Elba is very close to La Placita if you want to go out at night. There's some street parking, but finding a spot takes attention. If you appreciate authentic culture and want a central base for Old San Juan, Condado, and Island Verde, you should have booked yesterday! -Loclanie

The staff were so nice and accommodating, and the rooms and the rest of the place were super clean. I stayed over Superbowl weekend, which was also my birthday, and they made me feel really welcome. 10 outta 10! Everything's close enough that I don't see a reason to rent a car, and Uber is always nearby. Any time I'm in PR, this will be my second home!!!
