S.J. Suites Hotel

I'm a single woman on a mission trip and don't know anyone in Puerto Rico. I paid through booking.com, but they canceled my room less than 10 hours after I'd called to confirm it. When I arrived, the man was rude, never apologized, and kept making excuses. His notes showed that I'd just called, and that on further review my payment hadn't gone through. They should have told me that the night before when I called. Nobody even tried to call me back. I can only guess they rebooked it for someone staying more than one night. Mistakes happen, but the way they handled this was unforgivable. I'd strongly recommend staying somewhere else.

The room was adequate, though not much more, and the locked outdoor entrance was reassuring. It's close to shops, many tourist spots, and the old cruise pier, but the Pan American pier isn't within walking distance. We left our luggage there so we could explore before boarding our cruise. If you're arriving late, call ahead for the door code. We got there at 11:30 pm, didn't see anyone, but could get through the outer door and into our room.

Yuk, I feel like they scammed me. I canceled ahead of time and they kept all my money. When I called, the manager was rude and deceitful. Out of nowhere, she claimed her English was better than mine, even though we hadn't been discussing that. I'm an American from the mainland with an English degree, so the remark made no sense.

The room was clean and the location was good. If all you need is a bed to sleep in, it's perfect. Go somewhere else if you're after luxury.
