Ciqala Suites Hotel

The staff were very friendly, the rooms were clean, and the location was convenient, with everything just a few minutes away by car. We had confirmed when booking that the place was kid-friendly, but on arrival the rooftop staff made us feel unwelcome. That was the one downside to an otherwise great place to stay.

That rooftop bar was a real highlight, with tasty food, a great view, and a fun atmosphere. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful the whole time. The hotel is also in a handy spot, close to everything and easy to get around from. I’d happily stay again.

The staff were kind and helpful, but I wouldn't choose this area for a family waiting to board a cruise. Checkout is 11, and each extra hour costs $25. Late checkout isn't guaranteed either. The rooms feel almost smaller than a cruise cabin, and the concrete construction gives them a boxed-in feel. I'd look at the larger hotels by the port with a free shuttle.

The setting was beautiful, and the rooftop view was incredible. We even got a lightning show from Mother Nature, which was scary but beautiful. The bartender couldn't make a lemon drop as requested because she lacked some ingredients, but improvised and made a fantastic one. Service was wonderful. The fish was juicy, flavorful, soft, and meaty, with no complaints there. The rice, though, was raw and awful. My husband got ribs with the same rice, and both were disappointing: the ribs were dry, thin, small, not meaty, and just didn't taste good. The place and staff were great, but the food needs work.
