Sandy Beach Hotel

It's a budget hotel right on the beach, and they're working on updates. Don't come expecting a five star stay. Still, the price and the service were great, and I'll definitely return. The staff were courteous and helpful. Special thanks to Jada and the team. 🌞👍😊

It's a modest little hotel, clean though dated, and the staff are friendly. You're right by the beach, and there are loads of bars and restaurants within walking distance. Walgreens and another drugstore are only a couple hundred feet down the street, handy for anything from sunblock to Bacardi. The patio bar and seating area is open Friday through Monday. I wish it were open every day, since it was nice to sit there, chat with other travelers, and share ideas. I had a good stay and would book a room again. I did hear the elevator sometimes goes out of service, so keep that in mind if it could be an issue.

For a budget traveler, this place is a steal. The rooms are ice cold, the beds are clean, the staff were wonderful, and you're right on the beach. The hot water is only so-so but warm, and the bathrooms are a little small. At this price, you really can't go wrong. Just be careful in the ocean, since lots of tourists get pulled out to sea.

Our airline offered this place as one of three budget options after our flight was canceled. We've stayed everywhere from five-star hotels to one-star places, and some of those one-star stays have been great. What matters to us is staff, honesty, respect, and cleanliness. The location here was good, and we used the complimentary washroom, though it was in very rough shape. We would have stayed if the staff interaction hadn't been so upsetting. A lovely woman at the front, Dianne, said our rooms would be ready soon. Three hours later, after watching several other people get rooms, we asked again. The man at the desk said that since we were solo travelers, we only got one bed and had to wait. He offered room 103, which reviews described as by far the worst room. He was rude and condescending. My friend and I said we'd just bunk together, but he got nasty, apparently because he'd only be paid for one room. We were done at that point. We ended up getting an amazing room at the Hilton Caribe for less than two rooms at Sandy Beach would have cost. It had a huge ocean view, two queen beds, pools, and lots of restaurants. There are many hotels, and no one should be treated like garbage. Very disappointed with WestJet for referring us, and with how awful the hotel was.
