Casa de Amistad

I loved having a quiet solo stay at Casa de Amistad before my usual winter week in Vieques with a big group of friends. I go every year, and this time I came a few days early to decompress. The shared kitchen was great for keeping snacks and leftovers, and I spent time by the lovely pool and shaded garden patio. Mike & John were personable and helpful with recommendations, and I felt safe and comfortable. Lots of restaurants, shops, stores, and galleries are within walking distance. I felt like I’d hit the jackpot and may make this solo stop an annual part of the trip. 10/10, would recommend.

The room and hotel were clean, and they’ve thought of a lot of useful things for guests, like coolers, towels, umbrellas, and a beach bag. Megan was such a sweetheart. When we arrived, she sat with us over a town map, pointed out what was where, and shared good food tips and beach suggestions based on what we liked. Her attitude made the whole visit more enjoyable. The location also worked really well, with restaurants, car rental, the ferry, shops, bars, and other essentials easy to reach on foot. 10/10 all around.

We got a balcony upgrade at no extra charge, which was a lovely surprise. The place is cute and well located for getting around on foot, and they lend out beach essentials too. John welcomed us and had helpful ideas about what to see and do on Vieques. You can tell the hosts enjoy being there and having people stay. We spent three nights at Casa de amistad and would stay again on another visit.

That poolside patio was such a peaceful spot to read, watch birds, or talk with the other friendly guests. We also made our beach lunches in the kitchen, and the loaner chairs and coolers came in handy. The room and bed were comfortable, and John and Mike had excellent suggestions for food, beaches, and activities. They were so welcoming and seemed to have covered everything we needed on the island. There are dozens of restaurants an easy stroll away, plus a few beaches. We’re already making plans to return to Casa de Amistad.
