We paid the full price, but the service at the Shepherd Plaza Hotel in Beit Sahour fell well short of what it should have been. The staff seemed unprofessional and inattentive, and they weren’t responsive to guests’ needs. Paying that amount should mean getting decent, respectful treatment, and we didn’t. It was a huge disappointment that ruined our trip and forced us to go home. I hope management takes a look at how things are done and improves the service out of respect for guests.

The room I got still seemed to be set up for the previous guests. Nothing had been changed, right down to the pillowcases and bathroom. Reception also ignored our calls when we asked for towels and other essentials. We came as a group, but after that first night we left because the treatment was so bad. The cleanliness was below zero, and breakfast was awful. They seem to care only about the price, not whether guests are satisfied or given a clean room. I absolutely don’t recommend it.

The room was dusty, and the pool that was supposed to have hot water was freezing. There weren’t any bathrobes, slippers, tea, or coffee in the room. I asked for a bed for my two-year-old son, Amr, but they gave me a mattress instead of a crib. We ate out because breakfast was a disgrace. Really, everything felt disgraceful: no cleanliness and no service.
