For €100 a night for three people, breakfast included, staying at Quinta de Coalhos in a traditional Portuguese estate and old castle feels like a real bargain. The historic pool is stunning, and swimming in it during the summer heat made me feel like an aristocrat for a day. The old estate has loads of charm, the surroundings are peaceful, and the Portuguese hospitality felt authentic. A memorable mix of history, comfort and elegance. Highly recommended!

The pool kept the kids happily occupied, and the rooms were always clean. We loved this cozy, peaceful place with its incredible views. The staff were so friendly, and we had a wonderful family stay.

Breakfast each morning was lovely, and I really enjoyed swimming in the pool. The owner was such a nice man. I’ll stay here again when I’m back in Portugal. Thank you!

M. Alberty really looked after me when I ran into mechanical trouble with my transport. He was incredibly hospitable. The house is lovely, the setting is beautiful, and the accommodation was very comfortable. I also enjoyed the good breakfast, the grounds, and the inviting pool.

The gardens are lovely, and the pool is nicely shaded. We’ve come back to Quinta de Coalhos several times, first as a couple, then with the kids and more family, and later as a couple again. It’s a characterful place, just a short drive from home, with small towns nearby where you can find authentic Portuguese food, well prepared and fairly priced. Mr. Alberty is a true gentleman: warm, helpful, easy to talk to, and great with the kids. He really knows how to make guests feel welcome. Don’t miss it if you get the chance.
