Caloura Hotel Resort

We really liked both the hotel and its people, and had a fantastic time on São Miguel island and at your hotel in Caloura. The cleanliness was outstanding, and the housekeepers do brilliant work every day. Please pass that on to them. The breakfast team were quick and friendly, and spoke good English. Afonso deserves special praise. He was always smiling, helpful, and happy to chat, with excellent English. He arranged a few things for us and helped when he didn’t have to. It was a pleasure dealing with him. We wish we got the same treatment in hotels in Spain, for example. We really appreciate what he did, so please thank him for us. The lady at reception who often wears a green jacket 😂 was also always smiling and glad to help, though I’m sorry I can’t remember her name. Afonso and she make a great team, and they’re the kind of people you hope to see around. We had two downsides. The TV bracket is mounted too close to the wall, so it’s impossible to reach the ports. Short HDMI cables would let the maintenance team connect things so guests can plug in a Chromecast or Fire Stick. We couldn’t use the TV because the connection options were poor and there weren’t enough channels we liked. We left very early this morning for a morning flight. The man at reception seemed sleepy and hadn’t expected us to leave then, so checkout wasn’t handled very well. Still, it was an amazing stay and we’ll be back! 👍

I’m still dreaming about this gem of a hotel. It sits on a cliff, with so much beauty and serenity in one place. The scenery felt out of this world, our room faced the ocean, and everything was impeccable. We loved it all. Thank you ❤️

We had a lovely stay at this quiet, relaxing hotel on the cliffs of Caloura. There are pretty gardens and direct access to the sea. Our simple but comfortable ground-floor room had a balcony facing the pool. When we arrived, there was a smell in the corridor, but the staff were very helpful and sorted it out quickly. The restaurant was a bit hit-and-miss, though the service made up for that. You’ll need a car, but there’s plenty of free parking. It’s a beautiful, peaceful place, and I’d recommend it and come back.

We had a lovely family holiday here, three of us in a triple room. The hotel is spotless, the scenery is incredible, and there’s a beautiful big pool plus peaceful spots to relax. The staff were delightful, attentive, and thoughtful. Our beds had foam toppers and were very comfortable. The shower had strong pressure and very hot water. We had a car, which is essential. Breakfast was decent and had the usual choices, but it wasn’t as good as the rest of this superb hotel. The same sausages were served each day and were grim. There was no ketchup even though we asked every day, and the kids wanted sauce with their eggs and bacon. Oddly for a hotel buffet, there was no chocolate spread either. We saw people bring their own jars of Nutella. For the room price, I’d expect nicer toiletries. There was just a hand-soap dispenser by the sink and a shampoo dispenser in the shower that didn’t really work. I’d definitely come back, but I’d bring my own moisturiser, ketchup, and Nutella.
