The location makes it easy to get to both the old and new towns. The new town is lively, while the old town is lovely for its beach and charm in the day, and still buzzing at night without being quite as wild. Walking out takes about 10 minutes, but the uphill return is 15-20. The marina is 25-30 minutes away on foot, though a cab was cheap. Local taxis are inexpensive, especially through the app. We had a very clean, nice superior room with a pool view. Some sockets were oddly placed, and there were no hob rings or large bowls for pasta, but we managed. The pool bar's large beer was pricey at 5 euros. At the end of the street there's a great supermarket with rooftop places to eat and large beers for 1.50 euros, popular with locals as well as tourists. The beach was lovely, but watch out for sand flies and use insect bite protection. Hiring a lounger is probably best. The beach shower and foot wash weren't working at the end of April, though in the warm, partly cloudy 23-degree weather we dried off quickly. It was all worth it, a really fun place.

The location worked really well, with a supermarket next door and both the New Town and Old Town nearby. A taxi to either was about €5, and booking one through Bolt was easy. We stayed for a week with four friends and would happily recommend it. Our room was spacious and had a kettle, fridge, microwave, and balcony. Reception staff were wonderful, always ready to help and spoke great English. The food was good value, so we often ate lunch at the hotel instead of going out. The pool looked just like the pictures, wasn't too crowded, and was cleaned every day.

There were plenty of sun loungers whenever we wanted one, with Bali beds available for an extra charge. The hotel sits conveniently between the strip and old town, and shops and restaurants are only a couple of minutes away. I'd definitely recommend staying here. Our room was large, very clean, and cleaned daily unless we asked otherwise. The safe was free to use, and the Wi-Fi was the best I've had in a hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast had lots of choices, including for fussy eaters. The gym was spacious, with free weights and a decent weight machine, though it really needed air conditioning because it got far too hot.

We had a good four-night stay at Emeralds 🏨, about two minutes by taxi from the old town. The hotel was very clean, and the large pool was well looked after. There was a pool bar with reasonably priced drinks for a hotel, and the food was decent. The downside was how thin the room walls were. We could hear people coming back to their rooms at night, and it kept us awake on a few nights.

The pool area was relaxing and got cleaned every morning, and the food had a really nice range of choices. The reception staff were lovely too. Our room was modern and clean, the bed was comfortable, and we had a pool view. I've stayed at other hotels in albuferia, but this was my favorite. It's close to the strip and within walking distance of both the old and new towns. I had a really nice stay and will book here again when I come to Portugal. I'll be back 🙂
