Falésia Hotel - Adults Only

The hotel is a little out of town, so be ready to walk or take a taxi. We used Bolt. Buses are available, and the stop isn't far away, but they don't come very often. There's a shuttle to the beach, or you can wander down; it has places to eat and toilets. Nearby, there are plenty of restaurants, a brunch café with excellent toasties, and two supermarkets. At the hotel, our spacious, very clean room had a private balcony, comfortable beds, a great shower and reliably hot water. It was quiet at night. Breakfast and dinner had a good range of food. The outdoor areas and pool were clean and comfortable, with options by the pool, in the garden or in more private spots with double beds. The staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful. I'd definitely recommend a stay and return myself.

We loved this place. We were there for a week just before Easter, so it wasn't crowded, and we were impressed with the food and different choices each day at both breakfast and dinner. Staff were friendly throughout, from reception to the cleaners. There was plenty of space to spend the day, whether by the pool, in the garden or on the decking. The beach is about a 15-minute walk, and several restaurants are a short stroll away if you don't want to eat at the hotel. Our Junior Suite was spacious and clean, with a great shower. We liked it so much that we tried to extend our stay, but the price of changing our Easter Ryanair flight home put us off. Brilliant from start to finish.

I came back from a holiday at the Falesia wondering what happened to this once-beautiful hotel. I'm a repeat guest, and all the wonderful staff seem to have left. They wouldn't let me eat until 8 p.m., which was far too late, though I got the time changed to 6:30. The dining room felt like a second-rate canteen, with no tablecloths, napkins or wine glasses. Drinks, coffee and even water had a 10% charge added. The food was awful: poor quality, cold, with hardly any fresh vegetables unless you like courgettes. There were pigs' cheeks and something that looked like cows' hooves, and the soup was like dishwater. Breakfast wasn't good quality either. In the room, we got six hangers, two tea bags, two coffee sachets, two small milks, a bottle of water and a welcome red wine that was disgusting. There was no atmosphere. Complaints weren't taken seriously, and the lift was out for three days before breaking again. I never saw the new manager and think he may be avoiding the complaints. I couldn't face the food, so I ate out. This wasn't what I expected when I booked. A lot of returning and new guests won't be back, including me. New manager, please get the Falesia back to how it was and take the complaints seriously.

After four stays, this one will be our last. We visited again in April this year and were extremely disappointed. All the teams had changed apart from housekeeping, and some of the new staff seemed unprepared or not very competent. We waited for a dinner drink order that never came. The bar, reception and dinner staff were often unfriendly, and there sometimes weren't enough people on shift for the number of guests, even though April wasn't especially busy. Several cocktails at the bar were badly made, thrown away and remade. The kitchen team had changed as well, and the food had lost quality and variety. The Saturday themed dinners have also stopped. The tipping system shocked us most. A 10% tip surcharge is added to extras, and unless you read each receipt and object while paying, you may be charged without realizing it. We only noticed on the third day. Our first three visits were really good, but we're very disappointed by the new business and customer service policy and won't return.
