Monte da Saudade

The grounds are nice, but you need a car to get to restaurants or the beach. I rarely leave a bad Google review, but we didn’t experience warm hospitality here. We found Corrine unhelpful, dismissive, and rude. I was on a working holiday and needed reliable Wi-Fi for video meetings, but it kept cutting out and was slow in both the room and shared verandah. We also had trouble getting the air conditioner to turn off and the coffee machine to work. The place wasn’t very clean when we arrived, and the floor felt a little greasy. We’d seen the breakfast photos on this Google listing, but found it lacklustre and not worth the extra €10 per person, especially with so many lovely cafes and restaurants throughout the Algarve.

The view from our suite’s private terrace was astonishing. We joked that it looked like the kind of place where the very rich might live. Monte da Saudade is far more than a simple bed and breakfast. There are three roomy suites with sea views, lovely landscaped grounds full of palms and flowers, and wide natural surroundings. The website photos really don’t capture it. You have to see it yourself. Corinne and Louis were wonderful, friendly hosts. Each day brought a generous breakfast with croissants, filled crepes, fresh fruit, avocado salad, pancakes, eggs, and more. Everything was clean, stylish, and modern. Couples wanting a romantic break and quality time together should book here. We’ll be back!

The rooms are top-notch, with electric shutters and good air conditioning. Wi-Fi is there, though it could be a bit faster. From your own large private terrace, there’s a lovely view. You’ll need a car to get around, but breakfast is well looked after and the bright dining spot is protected from the wind when needed, with glass walls all around. Corinne is a cheerful hostess. We had such a lovely vacation here. The grounds and suites are kept in immaculate condition, and Corinne gave us really useful tips. With just three suites, the place feels wonderfully quiet. Breakfast on the terrace was a treat, with plenty of variety and sweeping views to start the day.
